WHO WE ARE & OUR PURPOSE

Pioneering Circular Agriculture & Climate Resilience in Refugee Settlements

BSF Mixed Ventures is a refugee youth-led social enterprise transforming organic waste into high-protein animal feed and organic fertilizer, fostering economic self-reliance across Kyangwali Refugee Settlement.

OUR ORIGIN & JOURNEY

Turning Kyangwali's Waste Into Wealth & Resilient Livelihoods

Founded in the heart of Kyangwali Refugee Settlement in Western Uganda, BSF Mixed Ventures Limited was established by resilient refugee youth determined to solve two compounding crises: mounting organic waste accumulation and the exorbitant cost of commercial animal feeds.

By pioneering Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens) bioconversion, we establish a truly restorative circular bio-economy. We collect agricultural residues and market waste, bioconverting them into nutrient-dense protein feed for poultry, pigs, and fish, while generating organic frass bio-fertilizer that rejuvenates depleted farmland.

100% Circular Bio-Economy Bioconverting tons of settlement organic waste into valuable animal protein and organic bio-fertilizer.
Slashing Farmer Feed Costs by up to 40% Empowering smallholder crop and animal farmers with affordable, nutrient-rich local alternatives.
Refugee Youth Empowerment & Green Jobs Equipping displaced youth with technical agronomy and biotechnology skills for sustainable independence.

STRATEGIC FOUNDATIONS

Our Discovery, Mission & Vision

Grounded in environmental sustainability, food sovereignty, and dignified self-reliance.

01. DISCOVERY

The Opportunity

With over 90% of Kyangwali's 120,000+ population engaged in farming, traditional feeds and synthetic fertilizers are prohibitively expensive and ecologically damaging. We recognized that abundant organic waste could be transformed into high-yield, affordable bio-inputs locally.

02. MISSION

Our Mission

To deliver inclusive, sustainable waste-to-value solutions that enhance community food security, regenerate depleted agricultural soils, and create dignified green employment opportunities for refugee and host community youth across Uganda.

03. VISION

Our Vision

To become East Africa's leading refugee-led sustainable agribusiness and circular bio-economy enterprise, championing climate resilience, regenerative farming practices, and social empowerment across humanitarian and developing communities.
