01.The Business Bsf Mixed Ventures Limited is a Refugee Youth-Led enterprise poised to become a leader in sustainable agriculture and waste management within the Kyangwali Refugee Settlement and the broader Kikuube District. Transitioning from a community-based initiative to a formal limited company, we are strategically positioned to address critical local challenges of food insecurity, low-income levels, and environmental degradation through an innovative and commercially viable business model centered on Black Soldier Fly (BSF) farming.
Our core activities involve converting organic waste into high-value products: premium organic fertilizer (frass) and protein-rich animal feed (BSF larvae). This is complemented by the production of high-quality seedlings, fresh vegetables, poultry, and the delivery of expert training services, creating a closed-loop, regenerative agricultural system.
02. The Opportunity The Kyangwali Refugee Settlement, with a population exceeding 120,000 and where over 90% of households engage in agriculture, represents a substantial and underserved market. Farmers currently rely on expensive, often ineffective synthetic fertilizers and low-quality animal feeds, which deplete soil health and limit productivity. Better Future Limited directly addresses this gap by offering locally produced, affordable, and highly effective organic alternatives.
The market for organic fertilizer and sustainable animal feed in Uganda is emerging and rapidly growing, driven by a global push towards sustainable food systems. Our initial Serviceable Obtainable Market (SOM) within Kyangwali alone is estimated at over UGX 1.5 billion annually for fertilizer and feed, providing a clear and immediate path to revenue.
